2020 pumpkin season has started! We took a beautiful morning drive from Minneapolis to New Prague to find ourselves the perfect pumpkin. The sun was a haunting smoky orange which made us feel thankful and sad at the same time. Thankful for the seeing another sunrise and sad for the fires that are burning out west. We arrived in New Prague around 8am and we were the first people at Barten Pumpkins for opening day!
Barten Pumpkins is a lovely property with plenty of room to social distance. There are pumpkins, squash, gourds, corn stalks, straw bales, and custom displays. There are games for the kids and plenty of space to run around. Plus it’s a perfect spot to grab some fall photos!

I fell in love with this sign. 😉
New Prague is an easy drive from the Twin Cities and would make a great day trip with the addition of exploring the town of New Prague. You can also have a picnic by the lake at Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park which is part of the Three Rivers Park District. Both are on our bucket list for next time.

2020 has changed everything but don’t stop exploring. It’s good for the soul to get out and go on an adventure. Sometimes, we take for granted what is right in our backyard or close to our homes. I’m at higher risk for the virus but I’ve found ways to get outside and still stay safe. One tip is to arrive early like we did today. We were the only ones there!
Stay safe and happy fall!
